While the first Final Destination film was an entertaining exercise in creating Rube Goldberg-esque traps for characters to die in, the series has been dying since, finally hitting the grave with the last installment, which we were promised would be the final installment (that "The" is meaningless now). With that promise broken, the fifth installment, going with the ludicrous title of 5nal Destination, is heading into production and has just added a few new cast members.
Bloody Disgusting reports that lesser-known actors Nicholas D'Agosto, Ellen Wroe and Meghan Ory have been cast in the film. An offer has also been extended to David Koechner to join the film. The three new actors and potential actors would join the already signed Miles Fisher and Arlen Escarpeta. The film will be directed by Steven Quale and is scheduled for release on August 26th next year.
Whenever I hear that an actor has joined the cast of a Final Destination film, all I can think is that they have some strange desire to see themselves die in a truly horrific manner. Rarely does somebody come out of the films unscathed and are more likely to have their head sliced in half or electrocuted than walk away. That said, the new film does have one thing going for it: it can't be much worse than the last one.
