Matthew Vaughn Regular Cast As Nightcrawler's Father In X-Men: First Class

Jason Flemyng, who has appeared in Guy Ritchie films
such as Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels or Matthew Vaughn’s Layer Cake (he even had a bit role in Kick-Ass), has signed on to play Azazel in X-Men: First Class, according to Empire. Eventually siring the popular mutant known as Nightcrawler, Azazel has a history that goes pretty deep into obscure X-Men mythology. His teleporting powers are not limited to spatial distances, either, as unlike Nightcrawler Azazel is capable of transporting through different dimensions as well.

I for one was singing Matthew Vaughn's praises for taking what could have been a childish and rehashed Marvel outing and turned it into something more dare I say dangerous and exotic by bringing lesser known mutants such as Banshee, Darwin, and possibly Sebastian Shaw into the fold. But this choice has even me head-scratching. Azazel seems like a sort of tyrannical John Connor who either travels through dimensions or makes tons of stuff up. Still, another compelling move by Vaughn.
